This recipe for Tiramisu is more of an original recipe in that is uses egg whites. Thanks Ailene for the recipe.

Prep Time: 25 minutes

Total Time: 25 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 8 eggs
  • 1-1/2 cup sugar
  • 24 ounces mascarpone cheese
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2-1/2 boxes of Lady Fingers (apprx. 60 cookies)
  • 1 cup espresso
  • 1/4 cup Kahlua
  • 1/4 cup Amaretto
  • cocoa powder

Preparation:

Separate eggs. In large bowl beat egg whites until frothy then slowly add ¾ cup sugar beating until soft but firm peaks form. Set aside. In another large bowl beat egg yolks and ¾ cup sugar until thick and pale yellow in color. Add vanilla. Fold marscapone cheese into egg yolk mixture. Gently fold egg whites into marscapone mixture 1/3 portion at a time. In a small bowl stir together espresso, Kahlua, and Amaretto. Dip the lady fingers in the espresso mixture for a moment and line the entire bottom of the 9x13 pan. Pour 1/2 the marscapone mixture over the lady fingers, then dust with cocoa. Repeat a second layer of soaked lady fingers, marscapone mixture, and cocoa. Refrigerate.

May be made the day before or several hours before.

Servings: apprx. 24.

Simply delicious and quite easy to make. Plan on making it a day ahead of time. It is so much better if refrigerated overnight. I garnished dessert plate with chocolate sauce, a dollop of whipped cream and a mint leave and sprinkled a ""fresh"" coat of cocoa on top of the tiramisu.
