Here's another wonderful Decorator Icing that has several flavor options for icing cakes.
Prep Time: 15 minutes
Ingredients:
- 1-1/2 cup shortening
- 1/2 cup water or whipping cream (more if needed)
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 pounds powdered sugar
- 2 teaspoons flavoring (orange, vanilla, almonds, rum or lemon)
- 1 teaspoon butter flavoring
Preparation:
Beat shortening at high speed for 5 minutes. On low speed, add water or whipped cream and salt. Slowly add sugar and flavorings. Beat on high until light and fluffy. Adjust liquid or flavorings if necessary. Makes enough for one 9-inch, two-layer cake.
Note: This recipe may be cut in half for hand mixers or doubled for large mixers for icing cakes.
