Step 1 - Cream Your Butter and Sugars

Real butter is a cookie lover's favorite ingredient.

The combined use of room temperature butter and a stand mixer make this process so much easier.

Nearly all cookie recipes begin by creaming the butter with the sugar(s). Mixing can only be accomplished with room temperature a.k.a. soft butter, margarine or shortening.
