Heat the iron in the hot oil for 1 minute. Drip off excess oil and then dip iron into batter only 3/4 way up sides of iron. Count to ten. Place in hot oil for a minute or until the rosette comes off of the iron. (Less intricate irons will drop off the batter easier.)
