Ingredients:
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup whole wheat flour
- 1 cup milk
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup margarine or butter, softened
- 3 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
- 1 egg
- 2 cups chopped pared apples (about 2 medium)
- ---Granola Streusel---
- 1 cup granola
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
- 3 tablespoons cold butter
Preparation:
Heat oven to 350 degrees. Prepare Granola Streusel by using a pastry blender to combine the butter and flour until combined and looks like small peas. Stir in rest of streusel ingredients. Set aside. Beat first set of ingredients except apples in large bowl on low speed, scraping bowl frequently, 30 seconds. Beat on medium speed, scraping bowl occasionally, 2 minutes. Stir in apples. Spread half of the batter in greased 9x9x2 inch square pan; sprinkle with half of the Granola Streusel. Top with remaining batter; sprinkle with remaining Granola Streusel. Bake Danish for 20-25 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
