- 5 cups flour, measured after sifting
- 1 cup (plus) sugar
- 1 pound (2 cups) butter, cold, no substitutions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Put flour and sugar in large bowl. Cut or grate butter into same bowl. Mix with fingers until resembles bread crumbs. Pat evenly in a 10x15-inch baking sheet with sides. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes or until light brown. Remove from oven and sprinkle with sugar. Cut into 2-inch squares while still hot and soft.
