I must be honest here. I am not, and probably won't ever be, a fat free anything person. Fat free, to me, usually means flavorless and dry. If it's a dessert, it is way too sweet. So when I tried this product, I was very skeptical. To my great surprise, these cookies are pretty good.
What I like best about this product is that it's uses go beyond just cookies. The mix can be used as a basis for different sweets like muffins and fruit tarts. As a cookie mix, you can add anything for extra flavor. Add raisins for a totally fat free cookie or add chocolate chips, which add some fat, but lots of flavor, to your cookie. A friend of mine added oatmeal, which gave them a wonderful texture and flavor. You could add almond extract, put a blanched almond on top and have Almond Cookies.
There are two things I don't like about this product. First of all, the mixing process is very messy. You have to use your hands to shape and divide the dough. You must do as the directions state - use wet hands. Don't do what I did, I started with wet hands and didn't bother to continually wet them. By the time I got the cookies on the sheet pan, I had gloves made of cookie dough. The other thing I don't like is the price. The mixes are pretty expensive but I guess that seems to be the norm for fat-free foods.
Enjoy!
