Ice Cream Sauces

Want to make that bowl of ice cream even more special? Just add one of the below sauces and now you have more than just ice cream. You have dessert.

All of these sauces are very easy to make. I make mine early in the day. When it is time to serve my dessert, I just reheat the sauce in the microwave. The sauces also make good housewarming or hostess gifts. Just put it in a pretty jar tied with a ribbon. Make sure the sauce is properly refrigerated.

I not only like a sauce on my ice cream, but I like nuts, too. This is why the below recipe is a favorite. I hope you enjoy it, and the other recipes.

Peanut Crunch Topping
adapted from HPBooks Ice Cream by the Hoffmans

1/2 cup butter
2 cups packed light brown sugar
1/3 cup light cream
3/4 cup peanut butter
1/4 cup chopped peanuts
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Melt butter in a saucepan. Stir in brown sugar, light cream, and peanut butter. Stir over low heat until smooth. Stir in nuts and vanilla. Serve warm. Makes approximately 2-3/4 cups.
