CHERRIES!
Dateline: 07/14/98

It's cherry season and I just can't wait to get home with the bag of bing cherries I bought from the store. They are wonderful just plain or used in some of the recipes below.

Enjoy!

Bavarian Kirschtorte
My gourmet group's last dinner theme was Eastern European. It was my turn to prepare the dessert and the hostess chose this recipe. It is a wonderful three layer dessert combining chocolate and white cakes with Kirsch (a cherry-flavored liqueur), lots of whipped cream, chocolate shavings and, of course, cherries.

Cherry Cobbler
This recipe uses tart cherries and tops the cobbler with a cornmeal topping.

Cherry Dessert Wontons
When I first read this recipe from SOAR, I thought what an easy but interesting recipe. You just stuff premade wontons with cherry pie filling and fry them. This would be great served with ice cream.

Cherries Jubilee
It is such a simple combination of dark sweet cherries, Kirsch and vanilla ice cream. Please be careful and don't set your house on fire.

Cherry-Pineapple Dump Cake
Just as the name says, the ingredients for this tasty dish are "dumped" into the pan and baked.

Cherry Cream Dessert
Here's a cereal crust topped with topped with cream cheese and topped with cherry pie filling.

Narsai's Luscious Non-Fat Cherry Dessert
This recipe from KCBS is an interesting combination of bing cherries and mango.

Sabayone
Another fancy, but easy recipe to make using Grand Marnier, cream and red tart cherries from Sunsite.
