The Most Celebrated Cake Recipe

Here are the entries in The Most Celebrated Cake Recipe Contest. There's a nice range of cakes from very quick and easy to assemble to quite time consuming and mildly difficult to make. I've already tried three recipes, so far. I can tell it'll be hard to decide, which is the best one.

The votes will be tallied and posted on July 11th. Good luck and may the best cake win.

The Contestants

Amaretto Cream Filled Cake

Karen says this recipe, made with sponge cake and hazelnuts, is based upon a cousins wedding cake. Her family also loved it with their New Year's Day meal.

Chocolate Eclair Dump Cake

Wanita's recipe "came about here on a day when long kitchen time wasn't possible and I wanted to fill my husband's love of chocolate eclairs." Her guests love this often made cake.

Cleveland Cake

Julia says her grandmother's notes on the back of the recipe card say: "I had this recipe for a long time. Some spell the name "Cleveland" after the President and some spell it "Cleaveland." I guess because it cleaves to the pan, hence serving from pan." Julia's family loves to eat the cake right out of the pan.

Easy Moist Lemon Poppy-Seed Cake

This recipe came from Susan B.'s Aunt Colleen many years ago. Susan says, "We serve it all the time for company and also give these cakes away to neighbors for Christmas gifts."

Instant Ice Cream Cake

Sharon submitted this very easy recipe using chocolate cake and your choice of ice creams.

Janine's Cake

Janine wrote: "Here is my favorite special cake recipe, which is so beautiful and great tasting that you would never believe how easy it is to make. The origin is from my relatives who just passed it down the line."

Mile-High Coconut Layer Cake

The frosting is fabulous according to Joyce E. who submitted this recipe.

No-Frost Chocolate Marshmallow Cake

Marie says this recipe is "just something I came up with and everyone asks for it."

Pineapple Angelfood Cake

Cindy C. wrote: "Here is the best and easiest cake you could ever make!... A friend gave this recipe to me a long time ago."

Sophine's Cake

Here's another easy cake recipe. This one calls for pistachio instant pudding.

Turtle Cake

Pat says her recipe is an old favorite "that I got from a friend about ten years ago." It is requested by her family for special occasions.
