Naturally Colored Easter Eggs

Thanks to Lois Clark for submitting her family's way of coloring Easter eggs.

Prep Time: 25 minutes

Ingredients:

• eggs
• onions
• heavy cotton thread or kitchen twine

Preparation:

Lois Clark writes: "Here is something my cousins and I used to do with our Grandma before she passed away. Each Easter she would get 3-4 big onions that she had grown in her garden with brown outer wrappings. We took raw eggs and wrapped them with the brown onion peelings, used cotton thread (saved from cat food bags!) wound it around the onion peelings so it held them on the eggs; then boiled them as usual. When they were done and we removed the peelings, the eggs were decorated in shades of brown and yellow, and white if it wasn't completely covered! This was my favorite part of Easter, the eggs were beautiful and I enjoyed doing it with my Grandma!!"
