Granny Smith Apple Pie
  • pastry for 2 crust pie
  • 6 cups peeled and sliced Granny Smith apples
  • 1 cup (packed) brown sugar (you may may prefer more or less sugar)
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • milk ( a couple of tablespoons)
  • sugar

Preheat oven to 425 degrees F. Put bottom crust in pie pan. Mix all the rest of the ingredients, except the butter, in a bowl. Pour the mixture into crust. Dot with butter. Place on top crust. Flute edges of pie crust. Cut vents in top crust. Using a pastry brush, paint the top crust with milk. Lightly sprinkle with sugar. Bake for 15 minutes. Remove from oven and cover outside edge of crust. Finish baking pie for 25 to 30 more minutes.
