Wincester Nut Bread

1/2-cup brown sugar
1/4-cup water
1/2-cup molasses
3/4-cup whole milk
1 cup white flour
1-1/2 teaspoons salt
2-1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1-teaspoon baking soda
2 cups whole-wheat flour
3/4 cup walnuts or pecans, toasted

Preheat oven to 300 degrees F. Grease 8-inch by 4-inch loaf pan. Dissolve sugar in water, add molasses and milk. Sift flour, salt, baking powder and soda together. Add whole-wheat flour and nuts. Stir. Add wet ingredients and stir until just combined. Place in shallow roasting pan filled with 1-inch deep water. Bake for 90 minutes.
