Easter, like Christmas, has become a very commercial holiday. And that's great because it's like having two holidays: one for Jesus and one for the Bunny.

Easter is more than just a day, it is a season. It is the most important time of year for me and other Christians all over the world. It's a chance to start all over again by recommitting ourselves to our faith.

In a nut shell, the season is as follows: The 40 days (the time Jesus spent in the desert) of Lent begins on Ash Wednesday. Lent is the time you'll hear Catholics, especially, say they are "giving-up"* something during this time.

Lent winds down with Passion or Palm Sunday as the last Sunday of Lent, and the beginning of Holy Week. Holy Thursday is the day of the Last Supper. Good Friday is the day Jesus dies on the Cross. Jesus rises from the dead on Easter.

*I, a Catholic, don't "give-up" anything. I use this time to "give" something to the Lord. Actually, I am "giving" the Lord more of my time. This year I'm doing that by praying the Rosary daily. It's been hard setting aside 20 minutes each day, but it's been worth it. So far I've been given an incredible amount of peace. A peace of the likes I've never known. It's truly amazing.
