from "Dessertly Decadent" Vol. 1 Iss. 2

By Carroll Pellegrinelli, About.com

6 cups or 6 large granny smith apples, peeled and sliced
1/4-cup apple cider or apple juice
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup flour
1/2 cup oats (quick or regular)
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon nutmeg
1/4-cup butter (softened)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Lightly grease 8-inch square pan. Place apples and juice in pan. Combine sugars, flour, oats, spices, and butter by using a pastry blender or two knives. The mixture should resemble coarse crumbs. Sprinkle over apple mixture. Bake for 1 hour. Serve warm with ice or whipped cream.

How much easier can it get?

EASY method: Use microwavable dish. Cook in microwave on high for 14 to 16 minutes.

EASIER method: Forget apples and cider. Use canned apple pie filling and bake at 350 degrees F. for 30 minutes until brown and bubbly.

EASIEST method: Substitute apple pie filling for apples and cider. In a microwavable dish, cook on high in microwave for 10 minutes.
