Gingerbread Cake

A couple of weeks ago my husband and I participated in a potluck dinner with some friends. It was a wonderful meal, perfect for a warm summer night. When it was time for dessert, I was surprised to learn that someone had chosen to bring this Gingerbread Cake. I've always associated Gingerbread with the holidays, but I was wrong. It was the perfect cake for after our dinner. It wasn't too heavy and it had a wonderfully spicy taste. Don't be like me and discount this recipe just because it's typically served in the winter.
