Best Way to Save on Dessert Calories

Thursday January 8, 2009
2009 Dark Chocolate-Orange Cheesecake Photo by Carroll Pellegrinelli, licensed to About.com.Want to convert a dessert recipe and only have one half or one third of the regular calories? The easiest way to do it, is to not do it. Yes, that's what I said, not to do it. Instead, only eat half or one-third of a regular piece or serving. You still get that same satisfying dessert eating pleasure without the chemicals and/or the funny taste.

Don't want lots of leftover desserts? Either freeze them for later or give them away. I bake a lot more that my family can consume. I'm always giving someone home baked treats, whether it's a neighbor, my husband's office, my daughter's school or our church, no one has ever turned them down.

The Dark Chocolate-Orange Cheesecake in the photo was cut into 2" x 1" inch pieces and served in paper muffin cups. After I served this dessert, I was told over and over again, it was the perfect size. There was just enough to get a taste and still be satisfied.
