Strawberry Shortcake

Last Saturday night, I took this dessert to our monthly Supper Club. I'll admit it; I got a less-than-enthusiastic response when they heard that I had brought Strawberry Shortcake. They quickly changed their tunes when they tasted the cake. Sure, just about everyone makes Strawberry Shortcake at least once this time of year. Sometimes it is served over a biscuit or on one of those little cakes bought from the supermarket. I've even seen it made with an angelfood cake. None of those ways taste half as good as the Strawberry Shortcake made with this recipe. Even thought there's not much butter in it, the rich-buttery flavor in the cake really stands out. Try this recipe and you'll know what I'm talking about.
