Delicious flavored breads make wonderful additions to any and all meals, from soups and salads to saucy stews and pasta. Our easy onion-flavored bread made in a bread machine makes a wonderful savory loaf that you can enjoy by simply gathering the ingredients and pressing start on your machine. Electric bread machines have made it possible for newbie bakers to prepare and bake bread in the comfort of their homes without much fuss, thus making the dream of a recently baked loaf of bread an easy endeavor. Our onion bread is a great option for breakfast, lunch, and dinner These are great slices to fill with your favorite cheeses and cold cuts. Depending on the machine you own, the times might vary, as well as the order in which the ingredients should be added, although in most cases yeasted breads like ours are made following similar steps and take similar amounts of time.

The onion flavor of our bread comes from the addition of onion soup. It's as easy as that. In fact, this easy recipe is also a great starting point for adding other flavorings. Mushroom soup, leeks, asparagus, and any other dry soups of your liking can make a great loaf of bread. Experimenting with these dry soup mixes can add a lot of fun to your bread game. Also try herb mixes like Italian or Provençal spices, or adobo or taco seasoning. For our recipe, you need bread flour, which is flour milled specifically for the purpose of making yeasted bread. If you can't find bread flour, simply remove 1.5 tablespoons from each cup of all-purpose flour and add 1.5 tablespoons of vital wheat gluten, a powder that is mainly made of gluten with very little starch and which is used in baking to improve elasticity and add that chewy bite that we all love.

For best results, and if you're new to machine-made bread, read thoroughly through your manual before you start. Secondly, measure your ingredients with cups meant for measuring dry ingredients and not liquids because even if they hold the same volume, their shape is different and serves a different purpose. Cups for dry items don't have a spout and are meant to be overfilled and then scraped over with a knife to flatten the item in order to have an accurate amount in the cup. Finally, use fresh yeast. The unopened packets last for a year, so check the expiration date before using. The resulting loaf of bread will fill up your kitchen with a delicious onion aroma. Top it with creamy cheese and arugula or smoked ham and sliced pears for a delicious quick lunch. Use it to accompany chili, carrot soup, or beef stew. Or simply eat it with a generous amount of butter.
