Happy New Year's

Wednesday December 31, 2003
When it was just Mom, Dad and me, our New Year's Day menu consisted mostly of simple finger food. It was the perfect meal for a day of football games. The mainstays would be boiled shrimp with cocktail sauce, a Port Wine cheeseball served with Ritz crackers, Fritos with Onion Dip and a bowl of Black Eyed Peas. We'd have other fancy hor d'ourves as well, but they would change from year to year. My husband has to have "real" food as well. This year I'm making Hoppin' John. I'll make it in the morning and just let it sit in the crockpot for that necessary all-day access. I think I might make some Cornbread to go with it. I hope you enjoy your day.
